Gemma started dancing and competing at the young age of 4, training in Tap, Jazz, Contemporary and Ballet. Competing as both a soloist and in troupes throughout New Zealand and Australia.
In 2009 Gemma completed a year certificate in Contemporary dance at the Hagley Dance Company in Christchurch where she was then lucky enough to gain a place at Unitec. She graduated in 2014, with a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts.
Gemma has been teaching and choreographing for the past 10 years, focusing on solo, troupe work and theatre shows. In 2014 she did an internship with Auckland Music Theatre as a choreographer for the show Action TV News 8. Gemma has choreographed Life, Death and everything in between with Rebel Theatre Company, the Witches of Eastwick with Center Stage Theatre Company, The Addams Family, 13 the Musical, Hair, Bring it On with North Shore Music Theatre, and more recently 42nd street with Center Stage Theatre Company. Gemma won a NAPTA award in 2015 for best choreography in a musical - The Addams Family .
Since living in Auckland, she has worked for entertainment company Highly Flammable, Ritz Entertainment and Deluxe Models as a fire dancer/dancer/model at events including V8's, Fuji Xerox 50th anniversary, Fire and Ice show, Taupo Arts Festival and 2015 Highlife on Waiheke.
Gemma currently freelances as a Choreographer and teacher at various schools in Auckland.
